Children’s Liturgy

Children’s Mass will take place in Lower on Sunday, January 6. Practice for all children on Thursday, January 3 at 7pm. Children’s choir practice will take place on this date also at 7.30pm.

Mass Changes

The Saturday evening Mass will be in Upper for the first six months of 2019 starting on January 5 at 8.30pm.

Fundraiser

Shay Smith, Behey, will be fundraising over the next few months for the Sisters of Mercy in Mazabuka, Zambia. He will be travelling as part of a student immersion project with Breifne College, working for two weeks there with the Sisters of Mercy. Please support Shay in his endeavours with this project.

First Communion

Will take place for Aughadreena NS on Saturday, May 11 at 11am in Upper and for Killyconnan NS on Saturday, May 25 at 11am in Lower.

Lavey Ladies  

The Club AGM will take place on Saturday, January 19 at 6.30pm in the Community Centre, Lower Lavey. Volunteers are needed for the upcoming season, to help coach teams and join the committee. 
The Dinner Dance takes place on Friday, February 8 in the Hotel Kilmore at 8pm. Tickets are €30 and are available from any committee member or senior player. 
The Club would like to thank everyone for participating and contributing towards the annual Christmas swim. A donation of €700 has been made to Virginia Cancer Care.

Fundraiser

Sr. Mary Courtney

Sends her sincere thanks and wishes everyone God's Blessing for their generosity to the recent collection. A total of €1,100 was raised. She would also like to thank Killygarry Apostolic Society for their donation of €500 from their Christmas wreaths sales.

Well done to the boys and girls of 5th and 6th class who raised €290 by making and selling St. Brigid's Crosses. Proceeds go to Sr. Mary Courtney. Thanks to the parish community for donating towards this cause.

The Lavey U17 team commenced their league campaign against Cavan Gaels on Saturday last at New Inn. They lost narrowly by 5-11 to 3-13. They play Ramor Utd. in round 2 on Sunday, March 3 in Dolan Park, Virginia at 12.30pm. 
Well done to Chris Conroy, Gerard Smith and the Cavan senior team on the victory over Roscommon in the Allianz League on Sunday last in Kingspan Breffni. They play Tyrone away on Saturday next, March 2.

The school launched their music CD on Wednesday, March 6 as part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme 2019. Well done to the boys and girls of 5th and 6th class who produced a top class selection of songs sung by the children in the school. The CD can be purchased from the school at a cost of €10. Thanks to all who have supported this project.

National Spring Clean will take place in Lavey on Saturday, April 6 at 10am. Please come along and lend a hand and support the work to keep Lavey litter free. Meet at The Lavey Inn car park. Foroige

Would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought and donated to their recent cake sale. A total of €810.50 was raised.

Irish Heart Foundation

In association with Abbott and ESB networks, offers free CPR training. Club Lavey will host three sessions on Saturday, April 6 in the Community Centre from 11am to 12 noon, 1pm to 2pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This is open to everybody in the community. Please text Walter at 087-9801316 to register and indicate preferred time slot, name and contact number of the participants.

Eucharistic Ministers/Readers

If anyone is interested in volunteering for either of these ministries in St. Dympna's Church, Upper, please give your name to Fr. Andrew or Marie, the sacristan.

GAA

The senior team commenced their league campaign with a 2-16 to 1-16 win over Arva away on Sunday last. They play Killinkere in round 2 on Sunday, April 7 at New Inn at 1pm. 
The junior team lost to Drumgoon away on Saturday by 3-16 to 1-8. They will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they play Shercock on Saturday, April 6 at New Inn at 5pm.

The Lavey senior team will play Swanlinbar in the ACFL on Saturday, June 15 at New Inn at 7.30pm.

The junior team will contest the final of the Reserve League against Drumlane on Sunday, June 16. Check fixtures for confirmation of time and venue.

Well done to the Cavan senior team on defeating Armagh in the Ulster Championship semi-final replay on Sunday last in Clones. They will play Donegal in the final on Sunday, June 23 also in Clones.

Well done also to Danny Cusack on his involvement in recent games with the U20 Cavan team.

Cystic Fibrosis Collection

The Cavan Branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland is very grateful for the generous contribution of €325 at it’s recent annual Lavey church gate collection.

Annual church gate collection will take place next weekend on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.

Cuan Cavan Cancer Support Centre

The Irish Cancer Society’s Strides for Life walking programme will start in September. It will take place in the grounds of Farnham Estate Spa Hotel. Parish Pilgrimage to Knock

The parish is organising a day to Knock on Thursday, August 29 which is a special day for the sick. There is still availability so if anyone is interested in going please contact the parish office 049-4330125 on Thursdays or Fridays between 10am and 1pm.

GAA

The senior team had a good win over Mullahoran by 1-14 to 0-11 in round three of the championship on Sunday last in Dr. Plunkett Memorial Park, Kilnaleck. They will play Cootehill in round four on Saturday, August 31 in St. Felim’s Park, Drumalee at 6pm. A win will guarantee a place in the quarter-finals.
The U17 team will play Bailieborough away in round three of the championship on Tuesday, September 3 at 7pm.
The Lavey Couch to 5k 2019 will kick off on Monday, September 9 and runs one night per week for six weeks. Full details will be released shortly.

Waterloo Investigation

Professors and student group from Harvard University visited the pseudo - named area of "Waterloo" and to identify the final resting place of two soldiers named Pogue who survived the battle of Waterloo and returned as heroes to end their days at local Saunderson Lodge in Waterloo. U12 Girls Victorious

Well done to the Lavey girls on a great win over Arva/Killeshandra in the Division 3 Championship final played on the 3G pitch at Kingspan Breffni on the Bank holiday Monday.

 Halloween Fancy Dress Party

In aid of Lavey Community Playground will take place in the Community Centre, Lower Lavey on Thursday, October 31 from 5pm to 7pm for children up to 12 years. Admission is €3 per child including drink and snack, tea/coffee. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Killyconnan Parents Association are holding a Cash for Clobber collection on Saturday, November 30 from 10am - 11am and from 2pm - 3pm and also on Sunday, December 1 from 11am - 12pm in the GP Room in the school. All your old and unused clothing, footwear, shoes, handbags, bed linen, towels, curtains, etc. are welcome with the exception of pillows and duvets.
