Defibrillator/CPR Training Course
Will be held in Ballyjamesduff Community Hall on Wednesday, January 18 at 7pm. It takes 3 hours to complete and is PHECC/Irish Heart Foundation registered and certified course and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. It is also free of charge. Well done to Gerard Smith and Shane Tierney who were on the Cavan team that defeated Tyrone by 1-13 to 0-12 in the Dr McKenna Cup on Sunday last in Kingspan Breffni Park. Gerard was top scorer with 1-2.
Ladies GAA
The Club would like to thank all those who participated in the Christmas swim and helped out in any way to make it such a success. Also thanks to the community for their continued support both on and off the field in the past year.

Annual meeting takes place in the Community Centre on Wednesday, January 25 at 8pm. Community Text Alert
Annual meeting took place in the Community Centre on Wednesday night last. It was well attended and members of An Garda Siochana were present. Thanks to the organisers of the Tractor Run held late in 2016 who donated the proceeds to Community Alert. Anyone new wishing to join can collect a form from any member of the committee. Another meeting will take place in April.
Crosskeys Vintage Club
AGM and membership registration is on Wednesday, February 8 at 9pm in Carraig Springs. New members welcome. Go along on the night to get your membership number.
Lavey Ladies
The Club raised €2,750 at their annual Christmas Swim and all proceeds will be donated to the Parish Defibrillator Fund. They would like to thank all who took sponsor cards, gave a helping hand on the morning, took part in the swim and donated to a very worthy cause. Information about training and defibrillators will be circulated at a later date.

Easter Ceremonies
The Holy Week calendar commences on Thursday with Mass in both Lower and Upper at 8pm. The Good Friday ceremony is at 3pm in both churches. On this day there will also be Stations of the Cross at 7pm in Lower and Prayers around the Cross at 8pm in Upper. The Saturday night Vigil Mass is at 8.30pm in Lower and 9pm in Upper. Sunday morning Masses are as usual, 10am in Lower and 11am in Upper.
The Liturgy group in Upper are arranging an Easter garden for the church. Anyone who would like to donate something can leave it behind the Altar.
Monster Bingo
Virginia College Sports Development Committee are holding their annual Monster Bingo in the College Hall on Good Friday at 9pm. Total prize money €3,500. Please support.
Cards
This has now concluded for the summer months and will resume at the end of October.

The senior team played out a draw with Drumlane in the league at New Inn on Sunday scoring 0-11 to the visitors 1-8. Attention now turns to the senior championship with Lavey playing Cootehill in the first round on Saturday, July 29 in Kingspan Breffni at 6.30pm.
The junior team lost to Drung by 3-12 to 3-8 in the reserve championship on Wednesday last which ended their interest in the competition.
In the U16 championship, Sliabh Glah had a good start with a win over Cavan Gaels by 4-8 to 1-14 in Crosskeys on Wednesday last. This week sees the second team playing two games in Division 4, Ballinagh away on Monday evening and then Kildallan in Ballyconnell on Thursday, July 27 at 7.15pm.

Senior championship action resumes this weekend with Lavey playing Cuchullains on Saturday, August 26 in Jim Smith Park, Killinkere at 7pm. A win in this game would guarantee Lavey a place in the quarter-finals.
The minor team were scheduled to play Shercock in the first round of the championship on Tuesday evening in Shercock. They will play the second round of the competition on Tuesday, August 29 against opposition which is still unknown.
In the U16 championship, Sliabh Glah defeated Lough Uachtar Gaels by 2-11 to 2-10 on Thursday last at New Inn. They are now through to the semi-finals where they will play Drumlane on Thursday, August 31 in Terry Coyle Park at 6.45pm.
In the U12 Summer League, Lavey have qualified for the final which is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Kingspan Breffni against Belturbet.

Farewell Function
There was a big turnout for the farewell to Fr. Brian and Fr. Kevin who are moving from the parish on September 1. Mass was celebrated in St. Dympna’s church, Lower Lavey and was followed by entertainment and refreshments in The Lavey Inn. Fr. Brian is moving to Butlersbridge and Fr. Kevin will be the Administrator in Cavan and they are wished good luck for the future. We welcome Fr. Andrew Tully who is coming to Lavey as Parish Priest.
At the Mass in Upper on Sunday, a presentation was made to Kathleen Tierney who is retiring from the position of sacristan. Thanks to Kathleen for her great work over the years.

This brand new programme will be running in the Adult Education Centre Ballyjamesduff for people aged 16-25 who are from the Ballyjamesduff and surrounding area.
The programme works on an individual basis to help improve employability/training and educational options all to help build confidence, promote good interpersonal, communication and develop essential life skills.
This programme also gives one the opportunity to complete QQI Level 3 programmes and also do driving lessons.

Defibrillator
Lavey Ladies have installed a defibrillator at St. Dympna's Church, Upper Lavey. It can be accessed by the keys in the glass case beside the cabinet. The Club would not have been able to do this without the wonderful support shown at the annual Christmas Day Swim 2016. Thanks to each and everyone of you who supported, participated and contributed in any way.

Centra Lavey Service Station
Would like to thank all those who supported the Centra Breast Cancer Walk and to everyone who donated money. A total of €1,145 was raised.

Annual Lavey Tractor Run
The organisers would like to thank those who participated and donated to the recent run. A total of €815 was raised and a cheque was presented recently to Coronary Care, Cavan General Hospital.

Congratulations to the Lavey U13 team that had a tremendous win in the Division 1 tournament ran by the County Board. It was ran as a blitz over the last few weeks and the Lavey boys went undefeated throughout the tournament playing nine games in total. They defeated Gowna in the final game by 8 points to 4 last Monday night on the Kingspan Breffni 3G. This is the first Division 1 title won by juveniles in Lavey. Well done to all the players and their management of Liam Maguire, Owen Lynch and Pat McCabe. The team was: Francie Lynch, Oran Daly, Tom Clarke, Owen Conaty, Adam Tierney, Ronan King, Callum Maguire, Liam Maguire, Conor Smith and Dean McCabe. Subs; Daragh Hyland, Mossie Cullivan, James Reilly, Dylon Crawford, Darragh Smith and Liam Galligan.
Assan Gaels will contest the U21 championship final on Saturday, December 16 against the winner of the Crosserlough - Southern Gaels semi-final which is down for decision this coming weekend.
